STEPS FOR ADMISSION
We are very thankful for the opportunity to open the doors of Portland Christian School to new families each year. The following procedure has been established to aid in the acceptance of all new applicants in grades K - 12.
Information (Kindergarten through Grade 12)
General information will be given over the phone (502)
266-9892 and is available at
www.PortlandChristian.org.
Admission forms may be printed from the
website. If Internet access is not
available, an information packet can be
mailed to the home upon request. This packet also includes application information for one student.
Please call the school to request additional application forms
if Internet access is not available.
Interview and Testing (Kindergarten)
After application forms have been submitted, the
Admissions Office will call and arrange for an interview with the parents and schedule a developmental screening. The screening is a one-on-one event involving the student and a teacher to aid in helping the child have a successful beginning in school.
While the child is being tested by the teacher, the family will be scheduled to participate in an interview. The interview is an opportunity to meet and discuss your goals and expectations for the education of your child. We
welcome questions. Both the testing and the interview can be completed in about an hour. The cost is
$75.00.
Admission Testing (Grades 1 through 12)
After application forms have been submitted, the admissions office will call and schedule a test. The cost is
$75.00. Typically we schedule small groups at the same grade level. This will take about
2
1/2
hours. We look forward to this time to introduce you to the school. You will receive the test results at the time of the interview. A student's scores on the admissions test are not the sole factor considered for acceptance. The scores do help us to determine a successful placement for the child.
Interview (Grades 1 through 12)
When test results and application information is complete, the admissions office will call and arrange for an interview with the student(s) and their parent(s).
Admissions Evaluation (Kindergarten through Grade 12)
After the admissions committee has evaluated the applicant's file and comments from the interview, parents will be notified promptly, in writing, of the admissions committee's decision. Please feel comfortable in calling if you have questions along the way.
Confirmation of Acceptance (Kindergarten through Grade 12)
After
confirmation of acceptance is received,
please contact the business office (502)
266-9892 in order to
confirm that financial
arrangements are complete. Seats are
reserved, in order, upon successful
completion of the
admissions' process, including financial
arrangement approval. Arrangements must be made with the business office regarding the payment of tuition.
If you have any questions or concerns other than fees, they should be directed to your child's principal.
It is important that you prayerfully consider the Statement of Faith. We are an extension of your home and desire that we be consistent in support of one another.

Portland Christian School Annual
Fund
Students
at Portland Christian School receive an
excellent educational opportunity knowledge
and wisdom revealed through Biblical truths,
classroom instruction and implementation.
This is made possible through financial
gifts above and beyond tuition.
Therefore, a tax-deductible contribution
of $375.00 is needed from each family to help
meet the financial goals of the school.
We understand that some may be able to
give more than $375.00 and others may not be in
a position to make a tax-deductible gift, but
are able to participate in fundraisers hosted by
the school.
Parents
are given the opportunity to contribute toward
this goal through participation in the Annual
Walk-a-thon, Cookie Dough Sale or other
fundraisers that would be designated for the PCS
Annual Fund.
For example, 100% of all Walk-a-Thon
money that is raised by families directly
supports the PCS Annual Fund.
A family would receive full credit for
all money raised through this fundraiser; of the
annual Cookie Dough Sale
- 50% (our full profit) of the sale
amount could be credited toward the Annual Fund.
Tuition Refund Policy
One years tuition is due if a student
withdraws after June 30, 2009.
All fees are non-refundable.
